Stewarding and Sharing Connections

Land

Conservation practices are critical to maintaining our diversified livestock farm in part because the farm resides on rolling hills with a karst underpinning. Converting our grass-finished beef, pastured poultry and heritage sheep operation to a rotational grazing system and using winter feeding areas has significantly healed soil erosion and compaction issues on the farm and enhanced soil and forage quality. By keeping a continual 3-4 inches of grass cover on all pastures we are increasing the health of the soil by reducing soil temperature and increasing microbial populations that reduce needed inputs. Practices that nurture soil health improve forage quality, animal health, parasite resistance and maximize a quality product.

We are honored to have received an Monroe County Soil and Water Conservation District  Emerging Conservationist award in 2018, the Indiana River-Friendly Farmer award in 2021, as well a multi-year USDA NRCS Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) awards in recognition of our conservation efforts to develop our regenerative farm ecosystem.

Livestock

We raise Angus cattle, poultry, and Shetland sheep for grass-finished beef, eggs and wool. Our animals are always on the move to fresh green pastures stocked with cool season grasses and plentiful legumes.

Local Food

You can find us Saturdays at the Bloomington Community Farmers’ Market and Bloomington Winter Farmers’ Market. Throughout the week shop the Bloomington Farm Stop Collective and Bethel Lane Farm Stop for our products and of course our very own Online Store for pick-up and delivery and shipping of select items.

Community

We are passionate about sustaining small-scale, independent farms. We embrace a philosophy of sharing and exploring with our community to grow an understanding of our natural world and to inspire creativity. We welcome visitors to come share our connection with the land.
